M = Media Language - Media language includes terms which are used to describe camera angles, shot-types, uses of Misc en Scene and Continuity Editing.
R = Representation - Representation of characters in films can be used to show any of the following; Age, Gender, Sexuality, Disability, Ethnicity, Class, Status and Regional Identity.
A = Audience - The audience of a film depends on the story and plot of the film itself. The language, any sexual scenes, formal language etc defines what the target audience may be.
N = Narrative - The narrative structure of a film can fall under different varieties of narrative techniques. Alongside this, there are many theories such as; Propp, Todorov, Vogler, Levi-Strauss, Barthes and Bordwell and Thompson.
G = Genre - The genre of a film describes the category. These are often based on the general overview of what happens during the film, the audience and the representation. Genre types include thriller, horror, comedy, romance and sci-fi.
Good to see some aspects of the glossary here Holly. Could you add theorists and a brief reminder of their theories/terms for Genre? These are important.
